The Triumph itself was sold to a farmer, who used it to herd cattle before abandoning it in a barn. In the Great Escape, after escaping the maximum-security unit at Stalag Luft III, prisoner of war Captain Virgil Hilts steals a German army motorcycle and makes his bid for freedom. The modified Triumph Trophy TR6 races to the Swiss border with German soldiers in pursuit. After it effortlessly clears one barbed wire fence, soldiers shoot down the motorcycle and capture Hilts again.
