The Lockheed Martin SR-71 Blackbird stands as one of aviation’s most extraordinary achievements and the world’s fastest air-breathing manned aircraft. First taking flight in 1964, this legendary reconnaissance aircraft could reach speeds exceeding Mach 3.3 and altitudes above 85,000 feet. With its distinctive delta-wing design and titanium construction, the SR-71 served the US Air Force for over three decades, gathering intelligence during the Cold War era while remaining virtually untouchable by enemy defenses.
